Sila Nanotechnologies is a battery materials company that makes a silicon-based anode powder to replace graphite in lithium-ion cells. Its flagship product, Titan Silicon, is a drop-in nanoengineered silicon composite that can replace 50-100% of the graphite in a conventional anode and raise energy density while remaining compatible with existing cell manufacturing lines. Founded in 2011 in Alameda, California, the company shipped a commercially available silicon anode in consumer devices such as the WHOOP 4.0 band and is scaling automotive-volume production at a plant in Moses Lake, Washington, with partners including Mercedes-Benz and Panasonic Energy.
