Whisker Labs (rebranded Ting Labs in July 2026) makes Ting, a plug-in sensor and monitoring service that detects electrical fire hazards inside a home before they ignite. The sensor listens for micro-arcing signatures from faulty wiring, loose connections, and failing devices, and pairs the hardware with a 24/7 fire safety team that coordinates remediation. The company reports over one million sensors in homes, distribution through roughly 40 insurance carriers, and more than 30,000 hazards prevented. Its sensor network also doubles as a grid-intelligence layer, detecting utility-side faults and power outages.

A single consumer-installed outlet sensor detects the micro-arcing precursor to electrical fires across the whole home, and the resulting nationwide sensor network doubles as a grid fault and outage intelligence layer for utilities.
