Zernike Precision Optics is an Indiana startup founded in 2025 by four Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology graduates -- Elijah Johnson, Andrew Nichols, Evan O'Brien, and Ryan Brown -- to manufacture custom aspheric lenses and precision optical components. It uses machine-learning-driven robotics to automate expert-level optical fabrication, which it says lets it deliver custom aspheres in weeks rather than the months traditional vendors take. Customers submit an optical prescription and work directly with the company's optical engineers rather than through sales intermediaries. The company took investment from Rose Angels and has been affiliated with VentureWell, AmeriCOM, Amplify Bloomington, and gener8tor.
