Applied Atomics is an Anchorage, Alaska nuclear energy company that develops, builds, owns, and operates medium modular fission power plants co-located at customer sites. Plants range from roughly 100 MW to 1 GW and are sold to customers as a single power purchase agreement with no nuclear operations required on the customer's side. The company uses proven light water reactor technology and holds an exclusive land-based license to BWX Technologies' mPower small modular reactor for the United States, Canada, and other markets. It was founded in 2025 by veterans of SpaceX, Virgin Orbit, Relativity Space, and Gravitics.

Vertically integrated: rather than selling reactor hardware one-off, Applied Atomics develops, owns, and operates the whole plant behind the meter for a single customer, turning each site into recurring power-purchase revenue while licensing an already-engineered light water SMR design instead of developing a novel reactor.
