About

Intelligent Mapping is a Park City, Utah technology company founded in 2020 that builds underground 3D mapping technology for subsurface conduit and utility infrastructure. Its PLUM device is blown through a pipe or pulled by winch and records the X, Y and Z coordinates, geometry, bend radius and pulling forces of the conduit in real time. Proprietary cloud software turns that capture into survey-grade as-built maps, automatic reports and archived data that feed customer GIS platforms. The company sells to data center operators, telecom carriers, departments of transportation, and oil, gas and utility operators.

Rather than inferring buried infrastructure from the surface, PLUM travels inside the conduit itself and produces a verified digital as-built record with X/Y/Z coordinates and bend-radius findings immediately after installation, turning underground uncertainty into data a customer can audit before pulling cable.

Product

PLUM

Underground infrastructure mapping device and software

An in-conduit mapping device, shipped in successive versions (PLUM 1.25, 1.5, 2.0 and 4.0), that is either blown through a pipe or connected to pull tape driven by a field technician's winch. Onboard sensors capture position and geometry along the run, and the paired cloud software processes the data in real time into three-dimensional as-built maps and reports.

  • Captures X, Y and Z coordinates of underground conduit at survey-grade accuracy
  • Real-time on-site data and measurements during the run
  • Bend radius analysis to flag conduit that will not accept cable

Built for

Data center operators, telecom carriers and departments of transportation that own or install underground conduit, plus oil, gas and utility operators
