sol pbc is a Colorado public benefit corporation building open-source, privacy-respecting tools that let individuals collect and gain insight from their own personal data — what it calls digital self-determination. Its software is local-first and open source, and the company has written legally binding covenants into its charter, filed with the Colorado Secretary of State, that it will never sell, license, sublicense or lease user data in any form, including anonymized or aggregated data, and that any acquirer must preserve those protections. It ships three projects: Solstone, a private journaling and memory log; Vit, a network where developers and AI agents collaborate on software; and Rookery, a personal data server for AI agents built on the AT Protocol. It was founded in 2026 by Jeremie Miller, creator of XMPP, as sole director and officer.
